Must Have App for Photo Lovers

Here is a little review/mention of one of my favourite apps. If you're a photographer, or photo enthusiast, a scrap-book lover or a thoughtful-gift-giver, this one is for you.

I first discovered FreePrints when it appeared as a sponsored post on either Instagram or Twitter (my memory isn't that great, sorry!) and I was curious, so to the Google Play Store I went (this app is available to download, for free, on both the Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for Apple).

Why did this app interest me? I am big on photographs. Generally, people just aren't as photo enthusiastic these days. Instagram makes it all too easy to share a photo in seconds and be done with it. But I still love photos the way my mum did. She used to carry her camera everywhere, on every trip to the beach or park (or castle... we spent a lot of time at castles during my childhood) and to every birthday party we had. She would send off the individual films and wait eagerly for her photos to be developed, and I remember how happy and excited she was when she received a thick wad of six by four photos in the post. She would show them to anyone and everyone, before carefully organising them into chronological albums, which, admittedly, she rarely ever looks at.

For our first anniversary, I had absolutely no idea what to get my boyfriend. He is impossible to buy for and I had never had an anniversary before; what are you supposed to buy?! Then I had a lightbulb moment; I was going to document our first year together in pictures *cringe.*

I forked out £20 on a hardback photo album from Boots and went about printing all our photos in the only way I knew how. I went straight to the Boots photo counter with a memory stick full of, well, memories, and printed off loads and loads of photos. It was a pretty pricey process. Creating that album cost me in excess of £40.

Our next anniversary (9th September 2013) rolled around pretty quickly. We had decided by this point not to do 'anniversary presents,' but I couldn't help myself. I wanted to make another album. Luckily, I discovered FreePrints just in time. And the rest, as they say, is history. I have never been back to the Boots photo counter, but I have started a little tradition.

FreePrints makes printing your photographs ultra easy. You get 45 free 6x4 prints a month; all you have to pay for is the post and packaging, which, for me, has never been in excess of £2.

You do also need to pay extra if you want to print your photos in a bigger size. You can print in ten sizes, including 5x5 which is perfect if you want to print your Instagram uploads. You can also print them onto 'photo panels' which are essentially photo frames without the frame part. You can print your photos with a glossy finish or with a matte finish too!

So there you go! That's what I think of FreePrints. I'd recommend it to anyone, why not give it a try?

Let me know what you think if you do use this app!
