Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation Review

I know, I know... not another foundation review?! I do use other products too, I promise, but if you read my reviews of the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and No7's Beautifully Matte and Stay Perfect foundations, you'll know how much of a foundation girl I am! I have been dying to write a review on this little gem ever since the Hermes lady handed over the package! I haven't been so excited about a product in a long time.

Kat Von D Beauty is not available in the UK, which probably added to the allure of the product for me (we always want what we can't have, right?). The reviews online are absolutely amazing. As you may know, I just love a full coverage foundation, and so I just had to give this a go!

You may be wondering how on earth I got my hands on this product, since I have already said that it is not stocked anywhere in the UK. Did I go on holiday to the US? I wish! Do I have a friend who lives in the states who loves to send me products? Sadly not. I recently discovered Roses Beauty Store (follow on Facebook here). Absolute God send! With offices in both Mayfair, London, UK and Beverly Hills, CA, USA, Roses stocks products from all around the world. The standard UK delivery is a mere £2.00 and takes roughly five to seven working days. I am so, so glad I discovered Roses Beauty Store and I cannot recommend them enough! I purchased this foundation from Rose's for £35.99.

You may also be wondering how I knew which shade to buy, given that Kat Von D is not stocked anywhere in the UK. I have recently discovered Marissa Lace on YouTube and now I am addicted to watching her reviews and demo's. Once I had hit that 'subscribe' button, there was no going back! After watching a few of her videos featuring many different brands and products, I realised that we have the same colouring. Hence, when I watched her review and demo on this foundation in shade 'light 44,' I knew this would be the right colour for me too. I am pale, but I have beige undertones rather than pink, and this shade matches my skin pretty well.

I love the packaging of this product; it demonstrates perfectly how much work Kat Von D put into creating her range and I love the consistency in her theme. The container is pretty weighty, which I like, and the pump applicator makes application effortless, mess-free and means you can control how much of the product you are using at one time.

Personally, I like to stipple this product on. When I first got it, I did so using my Sedona stippling brush, but now I find that it applies best when used with a damp Beauty Blender. The coverage is definitely full, but feels lightweight and not at all cakey! It covers my freckles and slight discolouration perfectly, but during breakouts, you would need a good concealer too! Is it really '24 hour wear' though? Honest answer... I'm not too sure. After I have applied this foundation, I set my makeup by patting on a transparent setting powder with a large powder brush, follow with my highlighter and blusher and then spritz all over with my Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. This combination seems to do the trick for me; my makeup stays looking fresh all day at work.

I really wish I had purchased the matching Featherweight primer (£35.99 at Roses) and concealer (£26.99 at Roses)!

Apologies for looking so rough in the above images. Tuesday is chill day for me at the moment and I'm just not about a full-faced look on chill days!

I absolutely adore this foundation and am so glad to have it in my collection. I would definitely buy other products from the KVD range in the future! Let me know if any of you have used any of the products from her range and what you thought!
