Skin Care Saviours

It's exam week for me which means stress, stress, stress! Unfortunately, stress doesn't have a particularly great effect on me or my skin. I thought I'd share this post with you to show you some of my skin care favourites when it comes to keeping breakouts at bay.

I take my make-up off at night (not as often as I should) with these Nivea Cleansing wipes, which gives me a completely blank canvas for the morning. I would definitely recommend them for sensitive skin, as they are so gentle. I follow up by using my Clearasil 'Rapid Action' pads if I am having a really bad time controlling my spots. They do exactly as they say on the pot. I wipe one pad all over my face, and rub gently into pesky spots. This can sting and burn a little, but I trust that to mean that the product is working! This tends to reduce redness overnight and means spots heal a lot faster than they would if left be.

I use this Clearasil deep pore treatment toner to tighten my pores. It isn't as effective for this as i'd hoped it would be, so I am definitely still on the hunt for a product to lessen the appearance of my gigantic pores. This toner does help keep my skin clear though.

If you have never tried Clinique's '3 step' then you should rush straight to Debenhams and buy it right now! It comes in different skin types. My mum bought me this miniture oily/combo set for Christmas, and it has lasted me this long. Firstly, I use the facial soap by wettening my face and gently rubbing into my T-zone, down and around my nose, on my cheeks and all over my forehead and chin. I leave it on for a minute and then rinse it off with warm water and dab my face dry with a towel. When my face is completely dry, I pour a little of the clarifying lotion onto a cotton pad and gently wipe over the same areas: T-zone, nose, cheeks, chin and forehead (basically, everywhere). This has a tightening effect and makes my skin feel a lot better, instantly.

Lastly, I apply a pea-sized amount of the dramatically different moisturising lotion onto my cheeks. I don't use it on my nose or T-zone because this is quite an oily area for me and I wouldn't like to aggravate it. For times when my skin is a little better i.e. any time other than exam week, I use a Simple moisturiser, which I apply before my foundation. The Freederm gel is good for single little spots, and has really easy application.

Let me know what your favourite skin care products are. What do you recommend for my exam week breakouts?!

  1. My skin really didn't like Cliniques 3 step products! I know a lot of people swear by them so I guess I was just unlucky. I had a sample of the dramatically different moisturiser though and gave it to my boyfriend and he loves it!

  2. Oh no! I love it! However, it did react with my foundation, so I use it more at night time now xx

  3. I used clearasil in the past and loved the facial wash but do love Clinique as it worked faster for my problem skin!! I swear by the blemish spot gel and loved the moisturiser for oily skin too! xx

  4. Hi Jenny! Thanks for your comment :) I love the facial wash too, but unfortunately I ran out ages ago and always forget to buy it when i'm out. I will have to give the Clinique blemish spot gel a go, my skin is a nightmare during revision period! Thanks for the advice :)xx

  5. I love the clinique kit, I've been using it lately and my skin is totally softer and smoother now, and it also helps me not getting pimples!

  6. Glad you agree that Clinique is amazing! My skin is always noticeably better when I stick to my 3 step regime!! :)xx

  7. I absolutely love Clinique's skincare, but I use the anti blemish solutions range as my skin is terrible and I'm always breaking out! Great post x

  8. I used to use the Clinique 3-step skincare in the past and loved it! If I can advice you one thing is to not skip on your moisturiser, if you choose the right one for oily skin it will only help to keep your skin in balance. All the anti-blemish products might be a bit drying and if your skin is not getting enough moisture it will more likely produce more oil to re-compensate it. Trust me, I've been there, I used to have quite oile skin :) x

  9. I need to up my skin care game.
I bought my friend the Clinique 3-step thing for her birthday, but I've not tried it. I may have to make a sneaky online purchase later.

  10. I used the Clinique trio in the winter and it helped so much. I loved it, especially the toner, it always left my skin feeling really clean and fresh.

  11. Ah, stress isn't great on my skin either - hello breakouts! Your go-to products sound brilliant and I'm so glad you've found a regime that works well for you, I found mine about four months ago and I've been super relieved ever since! :)

  18. I love a fab skincare post. I've used so many different brands on my skin and Clinique is one of my faves. I've been using the ant blemish range which isn't too good but the moisturiser is brilliant xx
