Reflecting on... Summer 2015

I've always been a bit nervous when summer term ends, and it's time for a long break from school/college/university. I know how this sounds, and I bet I'm one of few who actually absolutely  dreads the summer. Let me tell you why the words 'summer holidays' feel me with anxiety...

I don't really have many friends *insert 'monkey covering eyes' emoji.* Not in a sad way, just an 'I-prefer-my-own-company' way. A lot of my friends live in varying places around the country (one even lives all the way in Toronto during the holidays!) and others have lots of different friends who they spend a lot of time with. Hence, I get super nervous that my summer months will be incredibly lonely and boring and will lead to me sitting around overthinking myself into a bad mood.

That's not how this summer was at all.

Here are some of the amazing things that I feel incredibly blessed to have experienced this summer:

  • Multiple visits to Linx (my local nightclub), all very successful and very cheap nights out (bonus)
  • University Summer Ball (read the full post on the event here)
  • Thorpe Park with my best friend, boyfriend and close friend Jason
  • An overnight stay in Richmond, to visit my friend Esme from uni. She has now graduated and spent the remainder of her summer travelling around the USA
  • Visiting the Norfolk Broads and spending the day sunning myself on the front of a boat for my boyfriend's dad's birthday
  • Visiting Woburn Safari Park and staying at the Bedford Swan Hotel, enjoying a full body massage and dining at a Greek restaurant, all as part of my birthday present from the boyf
  • Turning 21! I was spoilt rotten my by boyfriend, family and best friends. As well as the above, on my actual birthday (14/09), I went to see American Ultra at the cinema and then went out to lunch with my dad and sister, and then ate out at The Estuary with the whole family in the evening
  • Attending the Pegasus Live Healthy Beauty Showcase and Insights Forum (click here to read all about the event)
  • Spending an entire evening eating chocolates and chatting away with my lovely Ambs
  • Boarding the Norwegian Epic for a week long cruise, We visited Barcelona, Cartagena, Malaga and Lisbon before sailing back into Southampton
That's all I can remember right now, but between working, I don't think I had a dull moment! My Instagram is full of photos from this summer, if you'd like to see more (link below).

I'm feeling super appreciative and lucky to have such amazing people in my life. It's true what they say: quality over quantity!

How was your summer? Let me know what you got up to in the comments section!

    1. Uni is a difficult time when it comes to friends because its such a transitional period and people are coming and going from your life. It can be lonely sometimes, but I'm trying to appreciate all the good times with my friends from uni while theyre still around!xx
