5 Illuminating Concealers For Pale Girls

Being ultra fair can often make searching for base products that little bit harder. I've tried loads of concealers over the years, but there's one problem I always encounter, being so pale. My question to the majority of brands out there: if I am already the lightest shade possible, and I want a shade lighter to brighten and illuminate the under eye area, what am I to do?!

Here, I have compiled a list of my five favourite concealers for pale girls, to highlight, illuminate and brighten.

Urban Decay NakedThis is #1 on my list for a reason. Let me tell you about the Urban Decay Naked Weightless concealer: this is seriously a game changer. If you're going to explore any of the concealers on this list, definitely make it this one! I purchased this from Debenhams for £17.50. At first I thought this was a little pricey for a concealer, but now I know... it's definitely worth every penny. The lightest shade is 'fair neutral' and this is perfect for my 'ivory' skin tone. It is not too pink, nor too yellow. It provides full coverage, but doesn't feel cakey at all, and doesn't crease beyond belief! I can't believe how beautifully this blends out! Naked Weightless brightens the face beautifully and covers dark circles like a dream. I use the doe foot applicator to apply it in 'V' shapes under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose and above my cupids bow. It best applies over foundation with a damp beauty blender.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Up next is the Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer in 'Eclat Clair 51.' Little confession... I actually stole this from a friend. Well, I say stole... so here's the story: my 20th birthday night out didn't exactly go to plan, and I ended up crying my falsies off in the toilet of a club. Bye, bye makeup! My friend gave me this to touch up a little, and through sobs, I asked if I could keep it in my bag. I never gave it back and then she moved to uni. Sorry, Gem! This is £7.99 and available from Boots and Superdrug. This is also full coverage, but just a tiny bit darker than the Naked concealer. I think this is definitely my second fave and a close competitor for Urban Decay. It provides a lot of 'radiance' as promised, but I'm not too keen on the simple, slanted, squeezy applicator. It also sets into fine lines and creases quicker than the Naked concealer.

Match Perfection Next on my list is the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer in shade 'ivory.' I absolutely hate the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation, so I was a little surprised when I found that I quite like this! It retails at £5.99 and is available from Boots and Superdrug. I picked this up because it expressly states that it is a '2 in 1 concealer and highlighter.' It is a little darker and a little pinker than the Naked concealer, but is less pigmented. This has a built-in brush applicator, where the product is dispensed through the middle of the brush. I'd say this is more of a medium coverage, and is better at concealing blemishes than highlighting.

Rimmel Wake Me Up! 'Wake Me Up!' please Rimmel! Yep, that's right, Wake Me Up concealer by Rimmel is another favourite of mine. It features the doe foot applicator that I love (though it isn't as soft as the Naked one, it actually feels a little stabby to be honest!), I have this in 'Ivory 10' which is great for my yellow undertones, but if you have pink undertones, go for 'Ivory 20.' In my shade, this is the closest in colour to the Naked concealer. I'd say this is medium/buildable coverage. At £5.49 (also available from Boots and Superdrug), I think this is a bargain and worth giving a go. I don't think it provides a bright enough look to warrant the name, but there you go!

Collection LP Last, and perhaps least, is the infamous Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. This has become a bit of a cult beauty product, especially amongst bloggers, but I'm not too convinced just yet. I have it in shade 'Fair 1' which was near on impossible to get my hands on. This baby sells out quick. This is definitely full coverage, but I find it a little cakey and sticky. It's also a little too pink and there isn't another option for us pale girls with yellow undertones. The price has been a subject of controversy, as it recently went up from £1.99 to £4.19. As I write this, it is available online at Superdrug for £3.99. This also has a doe foot applicator, which is quite soft!

Of the five, Naked Weightless and Bourjois Healthy Mix are the longest lasting and I find them to have the best finish to them. Naked is my reigning champion though. I love it because it is full coverage but lightweight, pale enough to brighten the desired areas of my face, long-lasting and easy to apply.

Fellow pale girls... please let me know which concealers you would recommend!

  1. Great list! I really like the Collection one but was surprised at how expensive it got, especially for a range as cheap as Collection. I really like the Wake me Up concealer too but find it isn't great coverage. I do really want to try the UD one, but I'm so stingy when it comes to concealers lol.

    1. It is a little too pricey for my liking. Such a shame I don't get on with it, everyone else seems to love it so much! I feel you, but loosen your purse strings just this once and you will not be disappointed haha! It's amazing xx

  4. Great picks! I love the Match Perfection and Wake Me Up for my under eye area, but when I have a nasty spot nothing beats Collection 2000.

    1. Being pale can be so annoying sometimes, as not all brands understand the difference between pink and yellow undertones! Glad you enjoyed the post & hopefully find it helpful!

  7. No way?! They've put the price of the collection one up? Crazy! At least it's still pretty cheap. I really need to try that Urban Decay one although I do really like the healthy mix range so I'm kind of tempted to pick one of those up if it is similar.

    1. Yep! I wouldn't buy it again at that price though, it's disappointed me! The healthy mix one is really good, but if you're looking for more of a radiant look, UD will definitely not disappoint you, Sophie!
