NYX Liquid Suede Review & Swatches

Today I will be telling you all about my new favourites, the NYX Liquid Suede lipsticks! When these were first released, they were plastered all over twitter. I have been lusting over 'sandstorm' since July 2015, but, sadly, they weren't available in the UK! In September, I was sunbathing in the Port of Barcelona, scrolling through Roses Beauty Store online (learn more about Roses by clicking here), when Liquid Suede™ appeared in the 'New In' section. You have no idea how excited I was. My boyfriend stared at me oddly as I squealed with delight. They sold out almost immediately, but luckily I was able to get my hands on 'cherry skies,' 'stone fox,' and the elusive 'sandstorm.'

As mentioned above, I bought these from Roses Beauty Store online, for £8 each. However, since then, NYX has become available in the UK at Selfridges and Boots. I believe they retail for £6.50 each in Boots... bargain!

I was so impressed when these came through my letterbox! Being from a budget brand, I expected the formula to come in little, squeezy plastic tubes (think 'Melted' from Too Faced). They actually come in decent sized glass tubes, with 4ml of product in. The packaging is beautiful!

The lipsticks come with a hard, but flexy, doe foot applicator, which makes application super easy. I love these because they are so easy to apply. You don't need a a lip liner with them to achieve the perfect pout, you just need a little patience. I have smaller lips, and my top lip doesn't quite meet my bottom lip in the corners, so I normally have to overdraw my lips a little. This is really easy to do with liquid lipsticks as the formula is so much thicker and more pigmented; you can barely tell I have gone above my lip line.

'Stone fox' (far right swatch) has to be my least favourite of the three. Cherry skies is your typical dark cherry red, which I imagine would compliment all skin tones. 'Sand storm' is a gorgeous, creamy, beige nude, which works well with my porcelain skin. 'Stone fox' is a dark, blue-y grey, which sadly, I just cannot pull off! I think this would look lovely on girls with a darker skin tone, but it just gave me a very 'corpse chic' look, ha! The colour payoff from all three is absolutely amazing. The above swatches were achieved from just one swipe in each shade. The longevity is great too; I can wear these all day at work and the colour is still visible. Darker shades do tend to bleed and smudge a little after eating, so I always carry them with me for touch ups.

I honestly can't recommend these enough. If I could only have one lipstick range in my collection, this would be it. Let me know if you've tried them and what your thoughts are!

    1. Good question! Honest answer? I've no idea! I've never tried the matte lip creams, despite how popular they've been recently. Perhaps I should give them a go, and then do a comparison!

  2. I don't think Sandstorm would work for me, but Cherry Skies is exactly how I love my reds to look. Don't think I could pull off Stone Fox though...

    1. Cherry Skies is quite a universal shade, I'd say! I definitely can't pull off Stone Fox, but I have a friend who can literally pull off any lip colour, so I'm sending it her way!

    2. Lucky her. I have a friend I exchange makeup with, too. She is of different skin and hair color, so most of the times it works out.
