Vichy Dermablend Foundation Review

If you're a blogger, this foundation is probably already on your radar. For me, this was definitely a blogger-induced buy! However, if you're not a blogger/beauty enthusiast, you're probably yet to hear about Vichy, because, in my opinion, it is an up and coming brand. So let me introduce you... Vichy Laboratoires is a premium brand of skin and body care, makeup and anti-aging products, owned by L'Oreal under its Active Cosmetics division. Thermal spa water from the hot springs of Vichy in France is the only water used in its products. If you get on with the likes of La Roche-Posay and Avene, then you're more than likely to love Vichy products!

I purchased this foundation from Boots (£18) with high hopes, having heard all about the amazing coverage it offers. If you've read any of my other foundation reviews, you'll know that I'm all about that full coverage look and that I have very high standards when it comes to foundation! This foundation has become a best-seller for Vichy recently, and that was enough to make me jump on the bandwagon and give this a go!

Description/Claims
'Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation combines a high concentration of pigments for optimal coverage with ultra-malleable texture, so light it blends into the skin, giving a natural looking result and flawless comfort all day long.'

Vichy claim that this foundation has up to six hours of high-coverage wear, with 30% pigment concentration for a flawless coverage. The 'soft-focus' pigments conceal imperfections with a beautiful result comparable to that of a conventional foundation. It is enriched in glycerin and plant oil and has SPF 35 sun protection (excluding a few of the shades which are SPF 25, please see vichy.com for details).

This foundation is said to give a 'bare skin' natural looking finish that you can 'trust to hold in place all day.' It has been tested on sensitive skin under dermatological (skin medical, science) and ophthalmological (eye medical, science) control, it's hypoallergenic (unlikely to cause allergic reactions), non-comedogenic (doesn't block the pores/cause blackheads) and has no parabens (preservative compounds)!

Coverage and Feel
This foundation is definitely full coverage. I was instantly fascinated by the formula of it! It's not nearly as thick as half of the full coverage foundations I usually wear! I use my Real Techniques Expert Face brush to apply this, and it works perfectly well. It also applies nicely using my fingers, but is obviously quite messy that way! Though it's full coverage, it isn't thick at all, like I've said. This is fantastic news for my foundation brush, because it means it doesn't get clogged up quickly at all with the product. I'd say this leans toward being dewy, rather than matte, but I like to apply a transparent setting powder very generously, to mattify my face.

Longevity
After I have applied this evenly all over my face, using my RT brush, I finish it with my MAC Prep + Prime Pressed Transparent Finishing Powder, to mattify. I usually work eight hour days, and this combination enables my makeup to last the duration of the working day. It doesn't separate, doesn't go patchy and doesn't darken or dry when it oxidises. It tends to make my face a little oilier as the day goes on, and does start to transfer, so if you're constantly touching your face, this may not work well for you! Overall though, the longevity is fab.

The Verdict
I'm in love with this foundation! As I grow older, my tastes are starting to change in every aspect of my life. Products that have worked for me since the dawn of time just aren't cutting it any more. One product that simply isn't making the grade these days is my Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation. I've used and loved that foundation since I was fourteen years old, but these days, it's just far too 'dewy' for me and I end up looking like a greasy mess. I definitely feel like Vichy Dermablend has taken the place of my once-loved Maybelline foundation. Not that they are overly comparable, but mainly because of the price, accessibility and consistency. Vichy Dermablend has become one of my two favourite foundations and I will continue to repurchase it for the foreseeable future!

Have you tried anything from Vichy before? If so, what did you think? Any recommendations? Let me know!

    1. Same! I find that with a good, full coverage foundation, you can skip on other stages of your routine like colour correcting and extensive concealing. It also stays put a lot better, most of the time!

  4. I'm also a huge fan of this foundation. Not something I would wear regularly as I do like my light coverage foundations too but perfect if I need extra coverage and want my makeup to last all day x

  6. I haven't tried any products from Vichy before. But this foundation sounds like something really like. As I have combination skin, I like to wear a fuller coverage. Otherwise the foundation likes to disappear instantly lol. Although you said it was quite dewy, I still think that I'd like to try it. As I like to have a more moisture, than powdery filled complexion.:)

    1. Based on what you've said, it sounds like you'd get on with this foundation! You could always lightly powder any super oily areas, like the T-zone, but leave the rest so you still look radiant!

  7. I tried a foundation from Vichy but it was in white packaging. Maybe its been re packaged or reformulated. I'm definitely going to head to boots and get my self another one :) xx

    1. I've seen that packaging on other people's blogs in the past; I'm assuming, as you have, that it was reformulated at some point, and the repackaging was as a result!xx

  8. This sounds great! I used to swear by the stick concealer way back when it was in the white packaging before they changed the shades so I will need to check out the updated range! Love a bit of full coverage!

  14. I've tried a sample of this foundation once and it was a bit too full coverage for me. I tend to prefer light bases, such as tinted moisturisers or light coverage foundations. But I can definitely see why people like it so much. x
