LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Review

I very rarely shop at Lush, for the following reasons: a) my local branch in Southend-on-Sea shut down years ago, *sobs* and b) I'm currently living with my parents, and we don't have a bath in our family home. I've always known Lush was about more than bath bombs and bubble bars (fun story: my first ever Lush purchase was a powdered deodorant bar. It was white and lemon-scented. I left it at the bottom of my P.E bag when I was twelve and inadvertently smashed it to smithereens. I had to throw the powdery bag away), but the thought of gazing at all their beautiful bath products and not being able to make a purchase put me off going into their stores. Well times are a-changing!

I'm moving out in August of this year and I'll have both an en-suite and a full bathroom suite - wait for it - bath included! Eek! My excitement knows no bounds, guys! The dreams of copper, wired baskets filled with beautiful bath bombs in my dreamy bathroom are getting me through these last few months of education and part-time work! Well anyway, my excitement led me straight to the Lush store in Colchester for a little preemptive browse. The staff in there are ridiculously happy, let me tell you! I don't know if Lush just pay extremely well or the staff are high off the scents of the products, but their employees were just short of delirious. It was the best customer service I've received in a while. The girls in there were super friendly and bursting with recommendations and tips!

Claims, Price and Ingredients
My first Lush purchase in ten years just had to be their 'Mask of Magnaminty' (I love the wordplay!). I picked up a 125g pot of the self-preserving mask for £5.75, but you can also pick up a 315g pot for £9.95. The price is a little steep, but is justified since all the products are fresh and hand-made in store. Also, you can easily get five-six applications out of this little pot, so the price isn't actually bad at all. Here's what Lush say about the product:
'Easily smoothed over the skin anywhere you like, this mask is made with peppermint oil to stimulate, marigold oil and chlorophyllin to treat the skin; evening primrose seeds and aduki beans to gently exfoliate as you remove it. There’s also mineral rich kaolin to nourish, antibacterial honey, and peppermint oil to stimulate the blood cells just under the surface of your skin to leave it looking bright and refreshed.'
This mask only contains thirteen ingredients, all of which are totally natural. These are: honey, kaolin, bentonite gel, talc, glycerine, organic ground aduki beans, evening primrose seeds, peppermint oil, African marigold oil, fair trade vanilla absolute, limonene, perfume and chlorophyllin.

The Verdict
This mask is green in colour (as seen below) and smells of peppermint. The scent isn't overpowering at all, and just smells very fresh. I imagine this would be great to apply in the morning time to give you a boost of energy, but I've actually been using it at night time to unwind. It is thick in consistency, but glides easily onto the skin. It feels so gentle on the skin, I honestly forgot I had anything on my face after sitting with it on for ten minutes! Unlike some masks, it isn't at all drying. It has a slightly lumpy texture which gently exfoliates upon removal (bonus!). I also found it very easy to wash off, using just my hands and some luke-warm water.

After using this, my skin feels energised, revitalised, soft and super clean! This is honestly a dream product: natural, cruelty-free and it smells delicious. This is definitely a 10/10 and I will definitely be repurchasing during my next visit to Lush.

Have you tried the Mask of Magnaminty before? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts! If you have any recommendations when it comes to Lush products, please let me know below in the comments section, as a huuuuuge Lush haul is on the cards this summer! That's all for now, folks. On that note, I leave you with this uber attractive image of me wearing the mask, ha! TTFN.

  6. This was so well written I enjoyed reading it!! I absolutely love Lush, I don't know how you've coped without their products for so long haha!! This mask is on my wishlist, I love the name too, and I've heard so many good reviews about it. I've tried a few of their masks before such as Cupcake and Oatfix which I LOVE, however I didn't enjoy their rose one. I'm hoping I'd love this one, I bet the mint in it smells lovely and feels lovely on the skin!

  16. We don't have a bath either, only a huge double shower. Unfortunately I am allergic to a lot of Lush products I have tried so I don't go in there apart from to buy gifts, but the last time I went in the SA told me they give samples so I could try products, so I might get a sample of this :) xx

  17. This product sounds great! I bought a fresh mask from Lush once and it smelt so bad, I couldn't bare to use it. It had lumps of grape in it and even the texture alone made me want to vomit. I think I will give this one a try though! x

I picked this mask up a few years ago and honestly only used it once before it went bad so I have to give it another chance again!
