Vichy Idealia Review*

Firstly, I'd like to start by wishing my mum a happy 47th birthday! I'm sure she will really appreciate me telling you all her age, ha! Okay... so today, I'll be telling you all about a couple of products I've been trialing from the Vichy Idealia range. Those of you who read my review of the Vichy Dermablend foundation (you can read that here if you like!) will know that Vichy is a brand I've recently come to love, so I was super excited when I was offered the chance to try some products from their skincare range!

Description and Claims
'Introducing the Idealia range: our suite of radiance moisturisers to visibly smooth the appearance of the first signs of ageing & wrinkles. Idealia re-awakens the skin’s natural radiance for a fresh and even complexion. With a range of products available, there are formulas to target everything from wrinkles to dark spots and a lack of radiance.'

'Vichy BB Cream is enriched with a unique complex (kombucha + UV filter system) and light reflecting pigments to create a beauty balm that helps skin radiate a healthy glow. Skin feels hydrated, its texture looks refined and your complexion appears illuminated. Use the tinted moisturiser everyday to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots and protect the skin from daily UV rays. Suitable for sensitive skin, Idealia BB Cream boasts SPF 25 for a light, comfortable day cream.' This BB cream is tested under dermatological control, is paraben-free, hypoallergenic and contains soothing and hydrating Vichy Thermal Spa Water. The Idealia BB cream retails at £22 (40ml) and is available in store or online at Boots.

The Vichy Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating cream for normal/combination skin aims to 'visibly smooth the appearance of wrinkles, providing a more youthful looking complexion. It has the 'richness of a cream with the lightness of a gel to give the skin immediate radiance. Both creamy and aerated, it melts on the skin. Skin texture feels redefined and softer and looks more radiant.' It is enriched with Kombucha 3%, AHAs, Vitamins, Probiotics and Polyphenols to re-plump the skin. It has been tested under dermatological control, is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, paraben-free and is enriched with Vichy Thermal Spa Water. The Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating cream retails at £25 and is available in store or online at Boots.

The Verdict
Let me start by addressing the packaging... my God, that packaging. I absolutely adore the pale pink/silver combination. In my opinion, Vichy is a mid-range skincare line, but this packaging feels so upmarket and I'd happily display it on my bathroom shelf.

Both of these products share a really unique, but sadly indescribable fragrance! All I can say is that it smells like skincare - clean and fresh scented - however, it isn't too strong and doesn't smell at all chemical-like. It's actually a really, really pleasant smell (I'm sat here sniffing it like a crazy lady whilst writing this... don't judge me).

I wasn't overly impressed by the BB cream, if I'm totally honest. It only comes in two shades: light, and medium. I opted for 'light' and still feel like this is a little bit dark on me. As a result, it didn't give me an even looking complexion; it actually made me look a little patchy, which was disappointing. As I've mentioned, it smells glorious and  it also applies like a dream (I just apply it with my fingers). I don't usually go for BB creams or tinted moisturisers, as I prefer base products with higher coverage. This definitely provides sheer coverage; it doesn't cover freckles, spots or scars at all. To conclude, this is probably a better choice for those with medium skin tones and those who prefer a sheer base.

On a more positive note, I cannot express my love for the Smoothing and Illuminating cream enough! There are two versions of this product, one for normal/combination skin and one for dry skin, which is perfect - it caters for all skin types! The 50ml pot is sturdy, heavy and angular, and as I've said, very pretty! The formula itself is half way between a cream and a mousse. It feels so fluffy and light in the pot. Aerated is definitely the word! The cream definitely melts into the skin and doesn't feel heavy at all. It is intensely moisturising and feels so hydrating on! I've been using this at bed time to add some moisture back into my skin after a thorough skin care routine. Sometimes a harsh toner can make your skin feel tight, and this is a perfect solution!

Overall, I was pretty impressed with the Vichy Idealia range! Truthfully, I had no doubts about the quality of their skincare range, having tried and loved their amazing Dermablend foundation. If you enjoyed this review, why not click here to give my Dermablend review a read?

Have you tried anything from Vichy's skincare range? I'd love to hear your recommendations!
