Duck & Dry Instant TLC and Blow Dry in a Bottle*

Over the years, I have played with the colour of my hair more than the style. I've bleached my hair to near obliteration, dyed it pink, brown, purple and black; however, it's always maintained a very similar style. See, my hair doesn't exactly cooperate when it comes to change. I have naturally dead-straight, silky hair (with a cute little cowlick amidst the fringe). Sounds like a dream, right? Wrong. I can spend hours curling my hair with tongs, and, to my dismay, it will drop in less than a couple of hours. I can twist and turn my hair into an abundance of up-do's. Do you think it stays put? Of course it doesn't! So, you can see why I'm always interested in learning about new hair styling products, especially ones that promise fuller hair. My hair is pretty flat and not as thick as it would be in an ideal world. So, when I was offered the opportunity to trial two of Duck & Dry's hair products, I leapt at the chance!

About Duck & Dry
'Fine feathers make fine birds.' Their slogan says it all really; this is a detail-orientated brand which places a real emphasis on perfecting the finishing touches when it comes to your hair! Duck & Dry describes itself as a 'flagship style bar where you can enjoy a glass of prosecco, browse through a menu of on-trend blow drys and chic updos or get a trim by a skilfully trained stylist.' Founded in 2014 by entrepreneur Yulia Rorstrom, Duck & Dry is the 'brand behind the finest blow drys and updos in London.' Their style bar lies on the fabulous King’s Road in Chelsea and is well-known for its energy and 'buzz.'

Having created beautiful hair for thousands of clients since their launch, they have been on a mission to extend their brand by introducing a range of fuss-free products, suitable for at-home use... and guess what?! Mission completed! They claim that their new, natural range of styling products will help you achieve a professional blow dry when you find yourself caught short without a salon appointment.

Blow Dry in a Bottle
First up, I just have to mention the packaging of this range. I'm a sucker for great packaging, and sometimes keeping things simple is best. The packaging is consistent with the brand's webdesign, which I adore. There's nothing better than great branding. I love their sweet little logo, the clever slogan and the colour scheme. Duck & Dry say that this carefully curated product range reflects their philosophy of keeping things simple, and I couldn't agree more.

Duck & Dry describe this product as follows: 'as part of our mission to create the perfect blow dry, we have created the ultimate styling tool – Blow Dry in a Bottle. This beautifully scented all–in–one spray builds volume, gives weightless lift and adds texture. But our formula does not stop there! It’s also packed with natural active ingredients that bring goodness to your hair, delivering conditioning and shine.' In short, it's a volumising spray. To use, it should simply be well shaken and sprayed sparingly on damp hair; throughout the lengths for overall fullness or on the roots for instant lift. Then just blow dry normally to pump up the volume.

Overall, I think this is a smashing little product! I've used it as directed and it's definitely given my roots the little lift that they so desperately need. I do follow up with hairspray to make sure my hair stays volumised all day, as one windswept moment can ruin the look! I've also used this on damp hair and left it to try naturally (just to see the result). This resulted in a more textured look, which I also welcomed. This product smells so salon-esque. It has a beautiful fragrance which is not at all overpowering! I can't really fault this one, guys! This retails at £18 and is available directly from the Duck & Dry website.

Instant TLC
'Give your locks the instant TLC boost with this leave- in conditioner. Enriched with natural active ingredients and essential oils, it repairs, conditions and tames your hair without weighing it down for a super smooth and frizz free finish. Did we mention that it is also a perfect detangler? Your ultimate tool for the impeccably manageable hair ... Shake well and spray evenly on towel dried hair from mid-lengths to the ends. Comb through and do not rinse out. Blow dry normally or let the hair dry naturally for a smooth and healthy finish.' This one also retails at £18 and is available direct from Duck & Dry.

Unfortunately, I'm really not fond of the smell of this product; it has a strange smell that I can't really describe. When you spray it onto towel-dried hair, the initial scent is very strong, but this does fade; it didn't really bother me when I sat and left my hair to dry naturally. However, this product is absolutely fan-bloody-tastic at detangling my hair! After growing my natural hair out for a couple of years, I recently made a rather rash decision and had my hair bleached all over at the hairdressers. For the first couple of days, I loved it. Thereafter? Well... there were tears. While I've come to accept that I will now have to spend another two years growing my hair out, what is increasingly frustrating is how my bleached hair gets matted during a wash. I've been using masses of conditioner to try and make it easier to brush, but this results in it getting greasy a lot quicker. This spray has literally solved all my problems. A few squirts and my hair is extremely easy to brush and feels soft and silky!

The Verdict
I give the Blow Dry in a Bottle an 8/10 and the Instant TLC a 9/10 (it would've scored a 10, had it not been for the scent). I'm absolutely loving using these products and I love the packaging so much that they will be proudly displayed in my new bathroom! I would definitely recommend this line of hair products!
