The Blogger Behind the Blog | 10 Facts About Me

-
Oh Jesus, I'm just realising how much I hate that photo! It isn't recent (it was actually taken in September 2015), but it's the best quality picture I could find of myself. Please forgive the fact that my face is a different colour to my neck?! Well, anyway, let's get on with it... I have been blogging for a full year now, and I've never actually revealed any personal info about myself. Even my 'about' page is pretty bleak. Well, that's about to change, so buckle up! I love reading these posts on my favourite bloggers' blogs as it helps me to get to know them better (and I'm super nosy!). Whether anybody will enjoy reading my facts is a mystery to me, but let's give it a go:

1 When I was younger, Bridget Jones was my unlikely role model. I used to fantasize about living in London when I was older, in a quaint little flat relishing in my independence, preferably working in publishing or for a magazine. Sometimes, I still fantasize about that life, and it makes me a little sad that I will never live in the city!

2 Maroon 5 are my absolute favourites and have been ever since 'Songs About Jane.' They have never released a song that I have not loved, and they are my first choice for shower-karaoke! I'd love to see them live more than anything.

3 Am I a cat/dog person? Hm... I have always had a cat. My first cat, Alley, died when I was ten years old, and I was absolutely distraught. We got my second cat, Bella, when I was thirteen. She is so different to Alley; I genuinely believe she thinks she is a dog. She is absolutely crazy; I love her so much and miss her greatly when I am away from home! I absolutely adore dogs, too though. If a stranger has a dog on the bus/in the street etc. I will run over like a crazy lady and ask to touch said dog.

4 I have been working in the retail and customer service sectors since 2011. It's the most frustrating, stressful, fulfilling and hilarious thing I've ever done. I've met some amazing people along the way who I'll never forget (even if I wanted to). Just a quick shoutout to my main man Trev!

5 My teeth have always been my biggest insecurity. I had braces from the age of 11-13, and they stayed well put for the most part, but one of my front teeth (the one between the front tooth and the left canine) moved gradually backward and is now misaligned. I have been told that I can have Invisalign braces to realign my top teeth, but it's an expensive option!

6 I am misaphonic. Misaphonia is a rarely diagnosed neurological disorder in which negative emotions are triggered by specific sounds. People with misophonia are commonly angered by sounds such as chewing, slurping, breathing, sniffing, swallowing, typing etc. and can receive fight/flight symptoms. Basically, I get very easily irritated by repetitive human sounds. So, it might seem like I'm just being aggy with you, but it's your fault entirely... stop that chewing this instance! Wikipedia states that one way of relieving symptoms is to mimic the actions, and I have to say that this is entirely true: if I am being irritated by somebody eating on the train, it 100% helps if I am eating at the same time.

7 I am one of the 1 in 3 women in the UK who has bladder weakness, and I don't understand why this is such a taboo issue!

8 I hate smoking with a passion. I cannot tolerate people smoking around me, and find it incredibly rude and inconsiderate when people smoke at bus stops/around the pool on holiday etc. I think it is an absolutely filthy habit.

9 I have one blue eye and one green eye. This is always my 'interesting fact' in interviews... it gets a little tedious. They actually change with the weather; some days it is glaringly obvious how different they are, and others you can barely tell!

10 I love all things Greek. Evenings spent in Greek tavernas with a bottle of dry white, a plate full of beef stifado with a side of feta and Greek village music playing in the background is my idea of perfection. Greece is the best place I've ever been, Kefalonia being my favourite. If you ever plan on going, I'd recommend staying at the Princess hotel in Lassi.

I really hope you found some of that interesting, if you don't know me personally. They're really random facts, I know, but they're what came to mind first, haha!

  4. I think it's really cool to have two different coloured eyes - do you find it a struggle to find eyeshadows that work well with both colours? I'm a cat lady too! xx

    1. Yay for cat ladies! No, I never really think about it when I'm applying makeup to be honest! I'd say they lean more towards green the majority of the time. They seem to get further apart in colour when the weather changes or when I've been crying a lot xx

  5. Ah I had problems with teeth, really hate them. Even dentist say that don't if braces will help. So I have no idea what to do with it... Do you want to be friends with me on bloglovin? 1. Having issues with your teeth is horrible! They're such a central part of your look, it's hard not to let them affect your self confidence! I'm starting my Invisalign treatment in the new year. Hope your treatment works wonders for you, or you at least learn to love your smile! :)

  7. Giirl! My teeth did the same thing and it's so annoying because it may not be obvious to others but I am constantly aware of it! It was great reading this and getting to know more about you as opposed to knowing you as another beauty blogger! <3
