LUSH Rosy Cheeks Review*

If you read my post Birthday Beauty Wishlist, or if you follow me on Instagram herethen you'll know I've had my eye on the LUSH Rosy Cheeks mask for a while. A while ago, I wrote this post here which reviewed the LUSH Mask of Magnaminty, which I'm absolutely obsessed with, and ever since then, I've been itching to review more of LUSH's products. Luckily for me, my best friend bought me Rosy Cheeks as part of my birthday present (to see what else I got for my bday, click here). So, here I am today to let you all know what I think of it...

Let's start by having a look at what LUSH say about this mask:

'Find the happiness you seek by cleansing cheek to cheek with this gorgeously soothing fresh mask. A simple blend of kaolin, calamine and Turkish rose oil to delicately calm the skin and restore balance. Whether you're feeling hot and bothered or just fancy showering your complexion with roses, cleansing calamine and kaolin will gently remove dirt while exquisite rose oil nourishes and tones your face. Smooth a generous layer of this mask over your skin and relax for 10-15 minutes, allowing the ingredients to get to work, before rinsing. Uncover calm, matte skin which says you've been kissed by a rose.'

Now, let's cut straight to it, shall we? What is this mask good for, and what didn't I like about it? Well, I'll start with the bad, because there aren't really many bad points about this mask. I found this mask curdles quite a lot in the pot and ends up with a liquid layer on top, which I found to be a little off-putting at first. I also would not recommend this for anybody who hates restricting products on their face. LUSH recommend you leave this mask on for 10-15 minutes; I reckon I lasted about 8 before washing this off, as it felt tight on my skin. The only other bad thing I have to say about this mask is that the pot is only 75g and is still £6.95, and it isn't self-preserving. The Mask of Magnaminty is £6.25 for a 125g self-preserving pot, which just seems a little bit more value for money.

Now, onto the good things about this mask... It only has 14 natural ingredients. As I get older, and after reading Beauty by Lauren Conrad, I am becoming more and more wary of what I put on my skin. There are very few brands I trust when it comes to skincare, but LUSH is definitely one of them! I also admire the fact that LUSH products are handmade and 100% vegetarian, the ingredients are ethically sourced and bought, no products are tested on animals and their naked packaging is eco-friendly. It's also a bonus that you can get a free mask every time you return five empty pots!

I love this mask in particular for it's soothing and calming effects. I have spot-prone skin and this mask definitely helped to settle any redness I had. If you follow me or my blog, you may well know that I'm slightly addicted to anything rose scented. I know some people find it a little old-fashioned, and I've been told my Jo Malone Red Roses perfume smells like soap (cheers), but that doesn't put me off at all. I am obsessed with this scent. The Rosy Cheeks mask isn't too strongly scented, and I wouldn't say it has that 'traditional' rose scent to it. It's a bit more sweet smelling and smells a little like clay (one of the 14 ingredients).

Overall, I thought this was a lovely mask and I loved trying it out, but I don't think I will be repurchasing again in the future, purely because I believe my trusty Mask of Magnaminty (read my review here) is a fab all-in-one, does-it-all mask and is better value for money!

Have you tried this mask before? If so, let me know what you thought below!

  1. This mask sounds lovely. I love the colour of it! Though this sounds good, I'd love to try Mask of Magnaminty first as I've heard tons of great things about it. Also, it's been on my wishlist for a while now! Great review :)

  3. I have spot prone skin too, so this might be a good one for me. I normally only reach for the Mask of Magnaminty when I am in store because I am so in love with it but it's about time I branched out. Great review xxx

    1. Annoying, isn't it? I thought the spots would subside when my teenage years came to an end, but here I am, 22 and constantly battling spots and red marks! Mask of Magnaminty really does wonders for my skin type. Sometimes it's best to stick to the stuff you know! Glad you enjoyed the review xx

  6. The one thing that puts me off Lush skincare products in general is that most of them have to be kept in the fridge or they don't last very long and I probably wouldn't even use half up before having to chuck it out. I guess the smaller sizes are better in that sense x

    1. My Mask of Magnaminty (self-preserving) is kept in the bathroom cabinet and I always use the whole pot before it goes off. I do get what you're saying though; there are certain bits I've avoided buying because of this xx
